Final of the Swarm Rescue Challenge 2024-2025: a drone swarm simulation programming competition

This year's final of the Swarm Rescue Challenge took place on 19 and 31 March. Organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Defence and Security Studies (CIEDS) of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris) with the French Defence Innovation Agency (AID) and the Indian Defence R&D Organisation (DRDO), the Swarm Rescue Challenge is a Python programming competition. Its aim is to stimulate students' interest in defence and security issues, with a particular focus on strategies for navigation, exploration and coordination between agents.

Jean Boisson, a teacher-researcher at ENSTA's Laboratoire de Mécanique et ses Interfaces (LMI*), is using his expertise in mechanics and magnetic systems to develop mandibular distractors that are more precise and less painful than existing devices.
