IP Paris' first participation in “Ma Thèse en 180 secondes” competition has marked a triumph. Elie Kadoche, one of the Institute's two contenders who qualified for the national semi-final held on Friday March 29, has secured a spot in the national final. The event will take place on June 5, 2024 in Nice.

Organized by France Universités and CNRS, the competition allows PhD students to present their research topic in French, employing simple, concise, and persuasive language tailored for a lay audience, all within a three-minute timeframe, complemented by a single illustration.

Following the regional final held on March 13 at École Polytechnique, two candidates out of ten were selected to represent IP Paris in the semi-finals. Elie Kadoche, a PhD student in the IDS department of The Information Processing and Communications Laboratory (LTCI), a Télécom Paris laboratory, won the Public Prize and the 1st Jury Prize.

Marie Sigallon, a PhD student at the Irradiated Solids Laboratory (LSI), a joint research unit of CEA, CNRS, École Polytechnique and Institut Polytechnique de Paris, was awarded the 2nd Jury Prize.

Elie Kadoche presented a project aimed at enhancing the efficiency of wind turbines for optimized energy production, while the second contender presented a coating capable of generating electricity simply by walking on it.

Congratulations to Elie, who successfully made it to the national semi-final, where 58 candidates were competing!

For its first participation in the competition, Institut Polytechnique de Paris is proud of all its candidates, who boldly and skillfully showcased the research conducted across its 32 laboratories.
